Ingredients :
Raw bananas – 7 to 8 (peeled and cut into thick round slices)
Mustard oil – 2 tablespoons
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Green chilies – 2–3 (slit or chopped)
Dried red chilies – 2–3
Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
Ginger-garlic paste – 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Red chili powder – 1/2 teaspoon (preferably Kashmiri or mild variety)
Garam masala – 1/4 teaspoon
Red chili flakes – 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
Salt – to taste
Dry mango powder (amchur) – 1/2 teaspoon
Fresh coriander leaves – for garnish
Preparation Method:
1. Prepare the Bananas
Peel and wash the raw bananas thoroughly. Slice them into medium-thick round pieces. Make sure the bananas are raw and firm, not ripe.
2. Heat Oil & Add Tempering
In a pan or kadhai, heat mustard oil. Once hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them crackle. Then, add green chilies, dry red chilies, and chopped onion. Sauté till the onions turn light golden.
3. Add Ginger-Garlic & Bananas
Now add the ginger-garlic paste. Sauté for a few seconds. Add the chopped raw bananas and cook on medium flame for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add the Spices
Mix in the coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, red chili flakes (optional), and salt. Combine well so the banana pieces are evenly coated with the spices.
5. Cover and Cook
Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook on low flame for about 5 minutes. Stir once or twice in between. Cook until the banana pieces are soft and fully cooked.
6. Final Touch
Once the bananas are cooked, sprinkle dry mango powder and fresh coriander leaves. Mix everything gently and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Your delicious and aromatic raw banana stir fry is ready to serve!
Serving Suggestions:
Serve hot with roti, paratha, poori, or even dal-chawal.
Great for school lunchboxes and quick weekday dinners.
A perfect option when you're short on time but still want a tasty, healthy meal.
Tips:
If the bananas turn black quickly after cutting, soak them in water to retain color.
Avoid slicing them too thin, or they may break while cooking.
You can replace dry mango powder with a few drops of lemon juice for tanginess.
Stay healthy, eat flavorful!
